Letting Go into Peace and Acceptance: an introduction to the Sedona Method in Derry/Londonderry 8th – 9th November

Have you ever felt stuck, unable to let go of hopelessness, fear, anger, frustration or other uncomfortable emotions? Or maybe you find yourself ruminating, worrying, and thoughts keep spinning through your mind no matter how much you try to calm down? Maybe the state of the world or of your life bothers you, but the more you try to fix things the worse you feel? If so, the Sedona Method can help.

If so, the Sedona Method can help you recover your natural ability to let go. It truly is natural! We’re all born with the ability to let feelings come and go – but we soon discover that adults would rather we didn’t express those feelings, and so we learn to suppress.

Expressing and suppressing emotions both have their place – sometimes it’s important to express our feelings and other times we need to stay quiet. But both expressing and suppressing can take a toll on us, whereas releasing emotions brings a feeling of ease or relief. Releasing even makes us more able to express emotions clearly and calmly when we need to.

Although this workshop is an introduction to the Sedona Method, you don’t need to be a beginner to enjoy it and get benefit. Everyone is welcome!

Watch the video to meet workshop instructors, Owen and Yvonne and to experience letting go with the Sedona Method.

This workshop will introduce you to the basics of the Sedona Method, including how to recognise uncomfortable thoughts and emotions, and to gently release.

A wonderful aspect of the Sedona Method is that when we start to see through our beliefs and stories, we laugh a lot! Expect this workshop to bring laughter and connection.

You will get to work in partnership to facilitate others. We provide scripts with questions to ask, so even if this is your first time with the Sedona Method, you will be able to feel the benefit of this practice. This mutual support is a very powerful part of the Sedona Method that means you can keep it going after the workshop is over.

The venue for our workshop will be confirmed once we know the number of attendees. To maintain the small group benefit for participants, the maximum number will be 24.

Owen Donnelly is in private practice as a counsellor, supervisor and trainer. He has been using the Sedona Method in his personal life since 2013 and with clients since 2016. He completed the Sedona Method Facilitator Training in 2021, renewing every year since.

He has found that using the Sedona Method has helped him to relax more in his client work and to simply be more fully present with them. He has also noticed a great increase in self-compassion and self-acceptance and his clients report many benefits.

Owen lives in Donegal in the Northwest of Ireland.

Yvonne Spence was introduced to the Sedona Method in 2008 and found it helped with work, relationships and life in general. Anxiety decreased, good feelings increased. Soon she began sharing the method with friends and family members and took the Facilitator training in 2016. She found aspects of the Sedona Method particularly helpful for letting go of self-judgements and developing self-compassion. When coaching one to one, she loves to support people to let go of being hard on themselves and to choose self-kindness. She brings this same compassionate approach to workshops.

“The weekend with Yvonne and Owen was really amazing. It really feels profound and life changing. I’ve been giving people the tingles when I talk about my experience on the Edinburgh weekend!”

“Yvonne and Owen’s recent workshop was a great introduction to, and reminder of the principles of the Sedona Method.  The format and setting were both great and the number of participants was ideal for working together, but also in smaller groups and pairs. I felt welcomed and at ease from the start and was reminded of techniques which I now use to help recognise my emotions in daily life, and which contribute to my mental health generally. I feel inspired to explore these further.

For Counsellors and Therapists

If you are a counsellor, you will find that after taking the introductory course, as Owen did, you can easily integrate the Sedona Method into your practice. At times throughout the workshop we will be working in partnerships, during which each person facilitates the other. This provides the opportunity to carry on releasing after the workshop is over and facilitating usually brings releases for the person asking the questions as well as the person answering. For counsellors and coaches attendance certificates for CPD purposes are available on request.
