Letting Go into Acceptance and Peace – an Introduction to The Sedona Method

Have you ever felt stuck, not able to break free of fear, anger or other uncomfortable emotions? Or maybe you find yourself ruminating, worrying, with thoughts spinning through your mind?

If so, the Sedona Method can help you recover your natural ability to let go. It truly is natural! We’re all born with the ability to let feelings come and go – we just soon discover that adults would rather we didn’t express those feelings, and so we learn to suppress.

Of course expressing and suppressing emotions both have their place – sometimes it’s important to express our feelings and other times we need to stay quiet. But both can take a toll on us, and releasing emotions feels more freeing and joyous!! Releasing even makes us more able to express emotions clearly and calmly if we need to.

The Sedona Method enables us to identify uncomfortable thoughts and feelings and to gently release them. (It’s sometimes described as “mindfulness on steroids” – but there’s none of the unpleasant side effects of steroids!!)

This short video of Yvonne facilitating Owen will give you an idea of what it’s like to experience the Sedona Method. In it, we release on anxiety and you’ll get most from watching if you release along too!

One of the main differences from meditation is that in Sedona Method workshops and meetings, we laugh a lot!

This workshop will introduce you to the basics of the Sedona Method, and you will also have the opportunity to work in partnership to facilitate others. This mutual support is a very powerful part of the Sedona Method and means you can go on using it in your daily life.

The venue for our retreat is the Salisbury Centre, located in the Newington area of Edinburgh, close to the beautiful Holyrood Park and magnificent Arthur’s Seat (a long extinct volcano!)

Are you ready to experience more ease and freedom?

The cost of the full 2-day workshop is only £150, and we also have options to join for a single day for only £75. If you’re on a low income and even that is more than you can manage, we still would love for you to come so we have some spaces available at reduced rates. Please just email Owen on owendonnelly@hotmail.com or me on yvonne@yvonnespence.com and we’ll let you know what’s available.

Instructors

Your instructors at this workshop will be me, Yvonne Spence, and Owen Donnelly.

Owen

Owen Donnelly is in private practice as a counsellor, supervisor and trainer. He has been using the Sedona Method in his personal life since 2013 and with clients since 2016. He completed the Sedona Method Facilitator Training in 2021, renewing every year since.

He has found that using the Sedona Method has helped him to relax more in his client work and to simply be more fully present with them. He has also noticed a great increase in self-compassion and self-acceptance and his clients report many benefits.

Owen lives in Donegal in the Northwest of Ireland and is looking forward to his visit to Edinburgh

Yvonne

I’ve been using Sedona Method since 2008, when I found it immensely helpful for relieving job-related stress. The following year my father was diagnosed with cancer and again the Sedona Method brought peace amidst the fear and grief that followed. I also guided my father through releases, including as we waited for him to be admitted to hospital for the last time. The effect of this was so profound that I knew I wanted to support more people so I took the Facilitator training in 2016, renewing every year since and have been coaching since 2020.

In 2022 Owen and I were invited to be part of a group of 40 Sedona Method Practitioners worldwide engaging in an mentorship programme with Hale Dwoskin, founder of Sedona Training Associates and Author of The Sedona Method book. In 2024 we were both awarded certification as Sedona Method Instructors.

Counsellors and therapists

If you are a counsellor, you will find that after taking the introductory course, as Owen did, you can easily integrate the Sedona Method into your practice. At times throughout the workshop we will be working in partnerships, during which following clear guidelines, each person facilitates the other. This provides the opportunity to carry on releasing after the workshop is over and facilitating usually brings releases for the person asking the questions as well as the person answering. For counsellors and coaches attendance certificates for CPD purposes are available on request.
